Scoundrel, has grown up on the streets of Osena. Longs to change his was from that of a fight starved boy to a man of diplomacy.

I go by Vaessen. I’ve lived in Osena all my life. Actually, I’ve never traveled further than the few towns surrounding Osena. I never knew my parents. Growing up as an orphan, I was told they were dead; I still don’t know what happened to them. I’ve never known a family, and while I was told my name is Gaeten Saia, I’ve never had any connection to it.

My life as I now know it, started one spring morning about 10 years ago. I first saw her in the market. She was wearing a white dress and twirling without care next to her father. A man of some importance in Osena, he was speaking with a member of the Artisan’s Guild. I stood at the edge of the market, incapable of moving, incapable of doing anything but stare. She and her father spent most of that morning in the market, during which time I slowly gained some control over my own body again. Still awestruck, I followed them to Isynthenum Park. I spent the entire day watching her, and I have never been the same. Rarely does a day go by that I do not try to find her. Always hiding in the shadows, silently watching her. Never speaking to her, never letting her know I was there.

In the time that I wasn’t following her around, I was doing anything I could to survive. Performing any job I could find, or resorting to stealing if nothing else presented itself. I longed to fit into her life, but knew that I couldn’t ever survive in her world without an education. That’s why I decided to attend the University, and the five-finger scholarship helps make it possible.

Right now, I am committed to growing and learning, all the while hidden and alone. One day I will step out of the shadows, I will be seen, I will be heard, I will be known.
